NW Pump & Valve were commissioned to upgrade the pumping system at the Centre of Ecology & Hydrology, Far Sawrey, Windermere with the goal of improving reliability and efficiency

To minimise disruption, work was carried out in two phases:

Phase 1
To supply one control panel housed in a new kiosk above ground for the three new 22kW pumps of Phase 2. Installation of an ultrasonic probe in the header tank gave accurate control over the tank level and removed the need to periodically remove and clean existing submerged probes. Mechanical aspects of Phase 1 included provision of a suitable pump and over-pump during panel change-over.

Phase 2
This consisted of the installation of three Apex vertical centrifugal pumps, including rewiring and civil work.

The contract included method statements, risk assessments and drawings.
