| Milnthorpe Water Treatment Plant |
In May 2005 NW Pump and Valve were awarded the contract by Galliford Costain to supply and install the mechanical element in the construction of a brand new waste water treatment plant at Milnthorpe, Cumbria.
The contract is the largest we have undertaken and involved precise timing to deliver mechanical expertise against a very tight installation programme.
Within the scope of the new treatment plant, two secondary rural pumping stations were constructed to deliver collective wastewater to the treatment plant.
NW Pump and Valve provided a range of disciplines and hydraulic knowledge to supply and install a variety of mechanical equipment, valves, steel pipework and fittings, pumps, fabrications and on-site welding.

The photographs (above and left) show one of the two sludge storage tanks with steel structures. Each tank is fitted with a bank of nine off 6” decanting pipes and valves, coupled together for removing surface de-cant water. |
Also shown (left) are three horizontal pumps, mounted in series and coupled together using 8” ductile iron pipework and fittings. The pumps transfer the sludge from tank to tank. |
